Technology has been increasing in interest and sophistication since back before we even knew about it. Bacon gave us a theory that characterized humans as having an "impulse to invent." He believed that "Money, not land, was the key to wealth." Money is earned by having a more productive way of producing goods or inventing something that does that such thing.
Neil Postman agreed that man is born with an instinct to barter and acquire wealth. He defines technolopy as technology is always being advanced and who ever can provide that item at the cheapest price will basically be running a monopoly. It is similar but also different to technocracy. Both relate to improving technology, but they use the technology for different reasons. Technology will continue to advance and continue to make human's life easier. Technology will grow and grow until humans rely on it. We will not be able to function without it because it has been our part so easily that we will become overwhelmed if we ever have to do all that work by ourselves. Not to mention we will become vastly less productive. Technology can produce much faster and more consistent that factory workers can. This article agrees with this thought that humans would be nowhere with out technology.
The concepts are similar in Brave New World. Technology will control human life. The concepts in Brave New World present a life controlled by technology. Technology spawns all human life. They breed each individual to perform a specific task for the rest of their life. They do all this through the use or technology and they operate technology everyday of their life. As you can see technology is the main focus of the story.
Its is not a long time until we are over run by technology. Before we know it we will involve technology is every aspect of living. I do not feel this would be completely awful because technology is much more productive and efficient. As long as we do not forget how to function with out the use of any technology we will be alright.
